Trail Report Jan 23-14

Trail Report for Jan 23/14

Eagle river staging area is open and the parking lot is cleared out.

The North trails are open, but the North trails have not been groomed since the first week of Jan, as the extreme winds and warm weather have played havoc on trail system. There are lots of trees down on the North and some trails may not be passable. We have hired a slashing crew to help clean trails in the North as there is so much debrey on the trails.

Also please note that there will be some logging activity on the Golden Triangle trail by the Blue Ridge haul road but the affect on the trail should be minimal and this is just information to insure that you ride with caution.

The Groat Creek Staging area is open and was plowed out.

The south trails were cleaned on Saturday except the Manweiler to the river. This should be cleaned this weekend. The trails were then groomed including, from Town to the Summit cabin on the Goodwin lake trail and the Summit trail. Also the trail from the Groat creek staging area to the cabin and from the cabin to the Tom Hill tower road towards Silver Summit were all groomed this week.

Extreme Caution is advised when crossing any waterways including rivers, creeks, ponds and lakes.

Also note that the Whitecourt Town bylaw permits sleds to ride from town to the trail system on designated trails ONLY!!
