Thanks to the volunteer efforts of club members, the Trailblazers' look after an extensive network of trails covering approximately 485kms in the Whitecourt area. The Trailblazers' work in partnership with Alberta Environment and Parks, Woodlands County and the Town of Whitecourt.

The Whitecourt Trailblazers Club currently maintains 485kms of trail system in the Whitecourt area, including portions of the Great Canadian Trail System (formerly Trans-Canada Trail System) and The Golden Triangle Trail System.

The Whitecourt Trailblazers have provided a link to a Google Map file which includes all Trailblazers trails plus GPS points for warmup shelters and trail crossings. The file should work with most personal GPS systems (ie. Garmin) and will correspond to maps on trails.

The 350km Golden Triangle Trail connects the communities of Whitecourt, Fox Creek and Swan Hills. The trail consists of varied terrain with warm-up shelters located throughout the trail system.

Whitecourt is one of the few communities that permits residents to operate snowmobiles within the town limits. Snowmobiles are permitted on designated trails only. The maximum speed of operation for an OHV within Town limits is 20 kilometers per hour. It is important to know that Centennial Park is within Town limits. For more information, please review the OHV Bylaw.
Open to snowmobilers free of charge during the snowmobile season. The Staging Area gates remain locked until the trails open for the season. All facilities are Pack It In, Pack It Out so please plan ahead.

The Eagle River and Groat Creek Staging Areas are available for rent from May long weekend to October long weekend (Thanksgiving).

NORTH STAGING AREA
Location: Just 10kms North of Whitecourt along Hwy 32 towards Swan Hills. The Eagle River Recreation Area is nestled within the beautiful Boreal Forest of Woodlands County.
Features: ample parking, loading ramp, newly renovated warm-up shelter with stove, firepit, firewood, outdoor bathroom, picnic tables, water well, garbage can, recycle bin, ball diamond

SOUTH STAGING AREA
Location: Just 18kms South of Whitecourt on Hwy 32 towards Edson. The Groat Creek Recreation Area is located along side the beautiful Groat Creek.
Features: ample parking, warm-up shelter with woodstove, group firepit, firewood, outdoor bathroom, picnic tables, garbage can, recycle bin
Open to snowmobilers free of charge during the snowmobile season.
