40TH ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATING OUR VOLUNTEERS
Every week we will be discussing an extraordinary volunteer who has gone above and beyond volunteering for our organization over they past 40 years. This week is our:
"Don Price"
Don Price is one of those guys that is always dependable and willing to go the extra mile. Don has been a volunteer for 20 years for the Trailblazers. He knows the trails inside and out. He has been working with the Grooming Team for most of those years. In addition, Don is an integral part of the Executive Member Team and guides the club with his knowledge.
Through all the various challenges throughout the years, Don is a true leader. He has had many challenges with unpredictable weather- high winds, low snow years, wet years, increased trail use, increased industry in our area and hard to get into areas due to numerous obstacles. Don will find a way. He works tirelessly throughout the winter months and also during the summer on the trails. Grooming trails is not an easy feat and takes a great deal of skill in operating the snow cats, but also in how to groom and maintain trails. He has mastered the skill. Don has also brought in his wife Leslie as his co-partner in the snow cat. Luckily for us, Don is now training a younger generation to help out with the grooming. Don is always available, engaged and willing to go the extra mile for the snowmobile club groomer operations, inspecting trails, building bridges, laying out new trails, facility enhancement, signage and making recommendations for improvements. Safety for the volunteers, riders and the club are always on Don's mind.
Despite Don’s quiet demeanor, his passion for snow grooming shines through. With his experience and knowledge of the trails, he quietly leads the volunteers to help the club attain their goals for the year. His dedication to the Whitecourt Trailblazers grooming and maintenance team this season has been truly amazing. We have had many challenges this past year and yet Don has continued to support the club as he has always done. We are truly lucky to have this fellow on our team.
Don still rides and can be found on the trails day or night. He manages to find some time to enjoy, but is always inspecting!!
THANKS DON AND LESLIE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND HARD WORK OVER THE YEARS!
